Vertigo is a fictional concept album created to explore how design can translate physical sensation into visual language. Inspired by walking through New York City, the project reflects the feeling of disorientation that comes from moving through a fast-paced environment defined by towering architecture and constant motion—the sense of being small within something overwhelming.

I began by imagining a band, KIMI, and a concept album built around this idea of vertigo. From there, I developed a fictional tracklist and directed a photoshoot to capture the body’s response to the city. The photography uses sharp black-and-white contrast and a bent, inward pose to express imbalance, tension, and scale.

This art direction informed the visual identity of the cover. A restrained monochrome palette creates a heavy, grounding base, while selective use of color and expressive typography introduces movement and disruption. The project was imagined as a limited-edition vinyl release for the Japanese market, incorporating Japanese typography as a graphic element rather than literal translation.
